Boxon signed the UN Women WEPs Statement of Support to promote gender equality and a sustainable future
Recently, Boxon announced that it has signed the UN Women Empowerment Principles (WEPs), which aims to strive for gender equality and women’s empowerment in the workplace, market competition and community life. As a signatory, Boxon commits to actively building a diversified and inclusive workplace culture that empowers women’s development.
The Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) are a set of Principles offering guidance to business on how to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment in the workplace, marketplace and community. Established by UN Women and UN Global Compact, the WEPs are informed by international labour and human rights standards and grounded in the recognition that businesses have a stake in, and a responsibility for, gender equality and women’s empowerment.
Principle 1: Establish high-level corporate leadership for gender equality
Principle 2: Treat all women and men fairly at work – respect and support human rights and non-discrimination
Principle 3: Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all women and men workers
Principle 4: Promote education, training, and professional development for women
Principle 5: Implement enterprise development, supply chain, and marketing practices that empower women
Principle 6: Promote gender equality through community initiatives and advocacy
Principle 7: Measure and publicly report on progress to achieve gender equality
Historically, the packaging industry has been perceived as male-dominated, and as in many other industries, women are underrepresented in leadership roles. At our company, there has been a noticeable shift, and we have made progress in increasing gender equality and inclusion both at the management level and among our employees. This change has been crucial for bringing different perspectives and experiences, which drives innovation and decision-making.
“We recognize that gender equality is key to sustainable business development, and we are proud to have committed to following the Women’s Empowerment Principles. With tools like the WEPs Gap Analysis Tool, we can measure and monitor our performance regarding gender equality goals and promote transparency and accountability,” says Pia Jeppsson, CEO of Boxon Group. “This demonstrates our unwavering commitment to promoting gender equality and creating a diverse, equal, and inclusive work environment for our Boxon employees and in our supply chain.”
